The UStream Feed

Below is the presentation from NJECC "Web 2.0, Meet Sparta Township Public Schools," via UStream and the slides to match. For some reason I could not get CamTwist to show my desktop on UStream. Maybe I need another tutorial (thanks Robin).

In all, I thought it went well, but it always seems that I could talk forever about the pedagogical advantages of some of the tools available to us. However, I could tell by some of the expressions from the audience that 40 minutes was just enough. Let me know what you think.

My first view of UStream...pretty cool. Now I want to figure out how to use it. It sounds like your faculty is where I want to be next year. This year is our year to try to get people to try things and showing them the ease and benefit. I'm into the shameless promotion thing myself. Did you have to get UStream unblocked in your district first? Was this a presentation where the teachers were given release time to come? Thanks for sharing, gave me some great ideas for next steps for me!

Hi Melanie,

I am sorry I got your location incorrect in the Voicethread section. This presentation was actually at a conference of Ed Tech professionals from the state of New Jersey. Also there were some people from Rutgers University and Montclair State University.

The theme of the conference was Web 2.0, and the organizers asked me to speak on the strength of a presentation that two of my teachers gave last spring. I really wanted to show how we get teachers to buy into what we are doing by making technology less of an "add-on" and more involved in the planning stages of lesson design: to embed, not to integrate.

My advice to you is to get your building admins on board so they can help with the promotion to your staff. I often hijack faculty meetings from them to show off teacher creations, and without first having them on board that would be a difficult thing to do.

Glad to see this helped.
